Hospitalization: If your son was admitted to a hospital, then it sounds like there was concern for his respiratory status. If he is having difficulty breathing then admission sounds the right course of action. His physicians should be able to update your further on the severity of his condition. Take care.

Apnea rule out: Monitoring cardiovascular and respiratory vital signs will provide additional information. If your son is having episodes of low oxygenation, I would suggest an overnight sleep study and head ultrasound. A follow up chest image may provide additional information.
