Shingles pain: There are two medications commonly used for pain after shingles (post-herpetic neuralgia) - Lyrica (pregabalin) and neurontin. Please consult your doctor as to whether you are a good candidate for these medications. If not or if the medications do not help, your doctor can refer you to a pain management doctor for additional treatments.

Pain Medicine spec: Tricyclic antidepressants (amitriptyline) & anticonvulsants (Neurontin or Lyrica) may be helpful. In general, try to avoid narcotics for chronic pain. Seeing a pain management specialist is a good idea.
