Mirena IUD ?s: Brown discharge with any IUD can occur if the IUD has been shifted in position by uterine contractions, causing slight bleeding, which does have a "metallic odor". See the gyn who installed the IUD for a pelvic ultrasound to determine the position of the IUD.
