A member asked:

I have an unopened pharmaceutical mixture of bismuth subnitrate with calcium carbonate which expired 2 years ago. the mixture had a shelf life of 6 months. would it still be safe to ingest, and would it have lost some potency?

Please discard: Please discard your expired medicine. Studies are only done to ensure safety and potency for the period of time guaranteed by the expiration date. After a medicine expires, we don’t know what it will do. Best to discard the expired product and replace it with something new. Good luck!
