Talk to your Dr.: Talk to your Dr. Of the drugs used to treat UC, only methotrexate is entirely contraindicated during breastfeeding. In general, 5-ASA derivatives, corticosteroids, and biologicals are not associated with congenital malformations or serious adverse effects in breastfeeding babies. Discuss the options with the Dr who normally treats your condition, they may have additional insights specific to you.
