Abscess: This is worrisome. Don't know if pain is in your gum or cheek. Abscesses sometimes don't respond to antibiotics and may require incision and drainage. Is the abscess large? Is there a lot of swelling around it? Depending on if the abcess is on face or gums - you may need to see dentist or an emergency room for urgent assessment.

Unremitting pain: Report your situation to the Dentist. He may want to put you onto a different antibiotic. Antibiotics will help prevent spread of infection, but will not cure it. For that you need hands on dental treatment. Consider consulting with a root canal specialist, an Endodontist.
