Dizziness: You are describing vertigo, which is usually a benign condition that goes away without treatment. If it persists, medications like Antivert can be helpful. Some physical therapists can perform an manipulation called the epley maneuver, which can be helpful. If it persists you should be evaluated by an ENT physician and possibly a neurologist.

Many causes: Causes for Dizziness/vertigo are many. I always start with Hydration and Electrolytes. Drink water/pedialyte or other electrolyte solution 6-8 glasses per day. If there is no improvement by tomorrow, call your Dr. Do not drive yourself if they ask you to come in. Get a ride. Other possible causes:Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), vestibular neuritis, Meniere's disease or Migraine.

Spinning: What you are describing sounds more like vertigo which is a problem with your vestibular gland. This is the organ which is on the area just behind your middle ear. The fluid inside the gland can get imbalanced for various reasons. Change in fluid level effected by hydration or diuretics a common one. Viral processes can irritate the gland and cause problems.
