100.4: Fever is defined at 100.4 or greater. Bottom line is that your doctor would rather see your child and let you know nothing is wrong than miss an infection in a baby that young. Give your doctor's office a call for an appointment.

Fever: Arectal temperature of 100.4 is considered a fever in a newborn.Normally your pediatrician would advice you to wait a few minutes and retake it if the temperature is borderline and the baby looks fine, as enviromental factors such as room temp or over bunddling could cause an increase temp.However if your baby is iiritable, lethargic or temp is greater than 100.4 seek help right away.
