Headache: The gradual onset of a nonthrobbing headache is more consistent with muscle contraction tension headache. A very severe headache of sudden onset, especially if accompanied by vomiting, confusion, altered alertness or visual disturbance, is more worrisome and warrants immediate evaluation in the hospital emergency room. I recommend taking acetaminophen or ibuprofen and relaxing in a quiet room.
