A member asked:

Is the age at which a woman's mother or sister began menopause have any bearing on when she will begin menopause or is it more of an individual, everyone-is-different situation?

Genetics play a role: Most women start perimenopause somewhere between ages 39 and 51. It generally takes around five years from the start of perimenopause for a woman to stop menstruating. Genetic factors play a role in this timing: If your mother and other close relatives had an early or late menopause, you probably will too. See a Dr for control of symptoms and hormone supplementation.

Menopause: Genetics dose play a role in menopause. For instance a woman's menopause age is likely to fall within a few years of her mother's age at menopause. See: https://www.webmd.com/menopause/features/menopause-age-prediction#1
