Blister: A blister is a fluid filled sac. Left alone, it generally resolves, but broken skin allows bacteria to enter the body and set up an infection. I suspect this is where the soreness come from. Treat topically: wash with soap and water, pat dry, apply antibacterial such as triple antibiotic ointment or mupirocin, cover with band aid and keep clean.
