A member asked:

do people who recover from covid-19 gain immunity to the novel coronavirus?

We HOPE so.: Initially assumptions were made that there would be at least some protective value against future infections if one had been infected. However, many countries have now reported cases where someone tested positive, recovered, tested negative- only to again become ill and test positive again. This is not happening a lot but it still raises the question.

A member asked:

If someone's gotten a cold already this year, will their immunity against the novel coronavirus be stronger?

Not necessarily: When you have a cold, you often develop antibodies to the virus. Those are specific to that cold and not to any other infection, including COVID19. To boost immunity, its best to try antioxidants, vitamin c, or other immune boosting supplements. Additionally, social distancing, self-quarantining at home, and wearing an appropriate mask when going to outside places can keep you from getting COVID1
A member asked:

Is it possible to get the novel coronavirus more than once? Wouldn't you're immunity be permanent after you recovered?

We don't know : Theoretically, it was assumed once recovered from COVID you couldn’t be re-infected.However, that assumption is called into question since individuals in Korea who had recovered & tested negative for virus, later tested positive. Testing was by PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing. REF: https://www.sciencealert.com/who-investigates-reports-of-recovered-covid-19-patients-testing-positive-again
