i have the nexplanon in my arm for birth control so i rarely have periods. i just finished a period 7-14 days ago. i am not bleeding again and the blood is dark red almost brown and has large clots of tissue in it. the flow is otherwise low for me.

Menstrual irregularl: When blood turns brown, it is usually old blood being cleaned out of the uterus. There can be a mixture of blood and lining which is shed from the uterus.
