Safe at nl dose: Antacids containing aluminum, calcium, or magnesium are considered safe and effective in treating the heartburn of pregnancy. Dose should be no more than stated on the packaging and only intermittent (not every day) Magnesium may have the unfortunate side effect of increasing your stool volume and frequency and may lead to diarrhea. Calcium based antiacids do not have this side effect.
