Cannot tell for one.: Each person is unique. That means we compare a child's annual growth to himself, his siblings, and his parents. Without malnutrition, his growth is mainly genetically determined. That means he can see his pediatrician and look at his growth chart, and at the sizes of his siblings and parents, to figure out how much he should be growing. "Textbook" numbers don't mean much in one individual.
