Fungal infection: Fungal infection of the feet can occur at any age and can result in thickened scaly or split skin, as well as discolored, peeling toenails. OTC "athletes foot" cream/spray/powder can treat the skin condition within 3-5 days. Use a foot brush to scrub her feet well between applications and mention it to your pediatrician at her next visit so they can follow up. Watch for swelling, redness and pain
