Soft tissue injury: Xrays are great for detecting bone fractures, obvious masses or other abnormalities, but not for soft tissue (tendon) damage. It is possible that you have a tendon injury in your ankle that has not properly healed. An MRI could detect this damage and an orthopedic surgeon could address the treatment. Your knee, and thigh pain are probably due to the fact that you are walking differently.
