Plain soap and water: Plain soap and water works fine. That means bar soap, liquid soap, shower gel, shampoo, etc., are all fine for hand washing. Additional anti-bacterial in soaps tend to end up in our lakes and oceans, and eventually will come back to bite us. Life is about balance, so each person has to decide how much to wash his hands without overdoing it. Too much hand-washing damages the skin.
