I have a sharp pain just under my breastbone. it gets worse when i sit or stand in certain positions and gets better when i lie on my side. if i press on this area it releases a sharp sudden pain. ?

Exam advised: I'm concerned about the combination of pain and tenderness in the epigastric area that you're experiencing. Possibilities include acute gastritis, peptic ulceration, pancreatitis. If the discomfort is higher up, behind the breastbone, pericarditis(inflammation of the sac that contains the heart, would be another possibility. I strongly recommend having an examination by an MD in the emergency room
