Is swelling at the vaccination spot normal a day after the 12 month shot?

Not unusual: Some of these go into muscle & some just below the skin. In the muscle injections there may be a transient muscle spasm or swelling that usually resolves in a few days. I wouldn't consider it a worrisome issue.
