A member asked:

Should patients who are on prednisone, dmards, or other drugs for their rheumatic diseases stop taking them to prevent catching the coronavirus (covid-19)?

No: There is no reason for anyone to stop their regular medications. It does not help prevent catching Covid. What helps is social distancing, hand washing and following the guidelines.

COVID 19: Don't make any medication changes without talking to your doctor. Corticosteroids (Prednisone) can effect someone's immune system. Disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) - recommendations have been that they don't need to be stopped just for the sake of stopping them but if someone becomes ill from COVID 19, determination can be made at that time.
