Unknown: The outer ear canal ends at the eardrum, which forms a barrier to anything getting into or out of the middle ear. If you are a swimmer or frequently get water into your ear canal during bathing, etc. there is a chance that the fluid draining out of your ear is just water that got into the canal. If not, then a DR needs to determine whether the eardrum is damaged, from an infection or trauma
