Lymphadenopathy: You cannot increase the number of lymph nodes, only increase the number of lymph nodes that are enlarged and thus become noticeable. If they are inflamed, it is called mesenteric lymphadenitis. Any cause of inflammation or infiltration can increase lymph node size, so the list is too long - but includes viral, bacterial and immunologic causes and rarely, lymphoma.
