I have been finding mucus in my stool & recently ive been finding a bit of blood. i am also experiencing lower abdominal cramping. i have an appointment with my doctor may 5th but im unsure if thats too long to wait to get checked?

Melena : Hi there, if there aren’t any other symptoms you should not worry. Black evacuations can be a song of superior gastrointestinal bleeding, but the smell would be distinctive and the symptoms would be different. Relax, eat well drink lots of water, exercise.

Depends: If there is worsening of abdominal discomfort and/or increase in the amount of blood in bowel movements you should be evaluated as soon as possible, even if you have to see another physician or a gastroenterologist. With brisk rectal bleeding or severe abdominal discomfort proceed to the hospital emergency room.
