9 days is too long: Normal, healthy, young adults can get the stomach flu or food poisoning symptoms from time to time. A patient will usually vomit and have diarrhea until her stomach is all empty, and then start to get better. However, more than 2-3 days of symptoms, or even 1-2 days of bad symptoms, means a visit to the doctor. At 9 days, some lab tests may be needed. Sometimes an ER visit may be needed.
