Risks are low: The worst that you are likely to experience is very heavy bleeding and severe cramping for an hour or so. If it lasts longer than that or the bleeding is really heavy or you are running a fever you may need to go to an ER (maybe 5% of the time). Your risk of dying is extremely, extremely low.
