Most people with HSV1 don't know it and the HSV blood tests are not perfect, with potentially misleading results; they miss a third of HSV1 infections. Fortunately, most HSV1 caouse only infrequent recurrent outbreaks, especially genital. 40% of people with new genital HSV1 never have it again, most others less than once a year.
