Recent headaches started in the back of head. also, dizziness and intense pressure feeling in head upon standing from sitting position, and slight discomfort when turning head. is this classic for tension headaches?

Possibly: Tension in the occipital muscles of the scalp and neck could cause the symptoms. Neck injuries from a whiplash accident can do it. You could try warm moist applications and very gentle massage to the back of the neck to relax the muscles. If symptoms persist or worsen, see your physician or a neurologist for evaluation and advice.
