A member asked:

Why did covid-19 originate in china? are there any genetic differences between groups that would make one more or less susceptible to covid-19?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Covid 19 is a zoonosis, which means that the natural reservoir for the virus is thought to be animals such as bats and feral cats. Occasionally these zoonoses can infect humans. I am not aware of any genetic traits that would make one population more susceptible to the virus than others.
