Yes.: Some people do experience permanent lung damage after Covid-19 infection, especially if they have severe respiratory symptoms and have to us a ventilator to recover. The risk seems to be higher in those that vape or smoke.

Permanent : Permanent usual means that at least one year of therapy is tried. So, it is too early to answer that question with those who have residual issues breathing.
