A member asked:

Could fasting be a means of boosting a person's immune system to keep an individual healthy in regard to this coronavirus?

Unclear if helpful: Intermittent fasting in general is healthy. However it’s relationship to antiviral immunity is unclear. Since COVID 19 is a novel virus the immune response to this pathogen is unclear. Intermittent fasting for overall health is certainly a good idea if done correctly, following guidelines and in moderation. One should still pracyice CDC recommendations for CORONA VIRUS prevention

Please repost: Please repost & clarify what you mean by “boosting,” & why you think your immune system needs it. Cellular or humoral immune system? If humoral, IgM, IgG, IgA or IgE antibodies? If cellular, granulocytes, lymphocytes, plasma cells, monocyte-macrophage system? B-lymphocytes or T-lymphocytes? Helper cells, suppressor cells, natural killer cells? — You see why the term “boosting” is meaningless?
