A member asked:

What is the proper ppe for hospital workers? hair cap, goggles, n95 mask? i'm told we cant wear masks unless we are around people who have symptoms.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

PPE recommendations: current recommendations from my hospital system advise for N95 mask for people under investigation and COVID + patients. if no N95 surgical mask is acceptable. Face shields are preferred over goggles. Gown and double gloves. hair covering is not required although most of us wear a surgical cap or hair covering. All hospital staff wear surgical masks with general patient interactions.
