A member asked:

Could the novel coronavirus be a fungus instead of a virus?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not really: Coronavirus receives its name due to being an identified virus with a specific capsule. The capsule of this virus has the form of a crown, hence the name. (corona=crown in spanish). It doesn't share any feature with the fungi.
