Different for each: Person. One severe sunburn in a very fair-skinned person with poor cellular dna repair or genetic-based cancer tendency may be enough (such as when seen in children), or it may take years and may exposures to damaging ultraviolet radiation. Since you cannot gauge your genetic or dna-repair status, it's generally best to avoid all sunburns, and limit even non-burning sun exposure. Use high spf!
