A member asked:

My 1 month old boy's right nipple/breast is hard/swollen, a hard bump, wasn't there yesterday. he got his injections in hospital in the right arm and i just noticed a purlpe bruise. could it have something to do with that?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doubt it: All infants are subject to maternal hormones that cross during pregnancy but are also removed through the placenta. Once the placenta is clamped, any residual hormone may trigger one or more transient issues. Most common is baby acne, but some infants of both sexes may have one or both breasts show some level of enlargement. His doc could confirm or exclude this. Infection is a rare complication
