Orthopedic doctor?: An orthopedic doctor specializes in diseases and problems of the musculoskeletal system and is a surgical specialist. The orthopedic doctor is not the one doing the imaging. Imaging is done at imaging centers, and examples are ultrasound, CT, or MRI. So, the orthopedic doctor does order the scanning tests, but typically does not do the tests.
