NONE: Forget it. No home remedy will cure you. Keep the nails very short & ventilate. Do not sleep with sox on. See a dermatologist if you want a cure.

Maybe?: The reason you hear so many different treatments for toenail fungus is because there is no perfect, sure-fire treatment that works 100% of the time. I've seen vaporub work, as well as other natural oil remedies, but rarely. You can also try laser therapy, antifungal creams, paints, or even oral medications if your doctor deems you healthy enough to take them.

Sorry: But there is nothing that will cure nail fungus. Treatments may help appearance but not cure it. See podiatrist to make sure its fungus it could be micro trauma which looks very similar.

Some: Vinegar soaks contain an acid, which most opportunistic fungus and bacteria don't like to live in! the issue is that it often can't penetrate the nail enough to get to all of the fungus. There are oral medicines and a couple topical solutions that are fda approved for this condition. See a podiatrist for all the options that may be best for you. Tea tree oil is another potential remedy.

Drugs: Usually onychomycosis persists life long unless treated with an effective anti-fungal agent such as terbinafine or itraconazole which have replaced the more toxic griseofulvin. You need a doctor's prescription for the oral meds laser treatments are now being offered.

Some: A combination of Vicks vapo rub with a couple of drops of liquid chlorine bleach mixed in (three drops in a teaspoon of vaporub) can help treat toenail fungus. Get some latex exam gloves and cut off the fingers. Apply the mix to the toe and cover the toe with the latex 'finger'. It will give a certain hydraulic pressure to the mix to force it under the nail.

Terbinafine: It is an antifungal medication that has a good track record for the most common nail infections. It is tolerated well, affordable and generally effective. This medicine is by prescription, so ask your podiatrist for one. Simple blood tests to rule out liver problems are commonly performed. If you have a history of liver disease or take certain medications, other options might be better for you.
