Anosmia: Impaired olfactory function is a frequent patient complaint. Nasal and paranasal sinus disease (sinusitis and nasal polyps) and post-viral upper respiratory infections are the most commonly causes. Some drugs (cocaine), medications (blood pressure meds) and supplements (zinc) can also cause a lost sense of smell.
