Dr. can check throat: New throat pain or burning can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause. Usually, a person sees her doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, unusual, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly. Flu-like symptoms or cold symptoms with or without sore throat can be COVID-19 if the coronavirus is in your town.

Can't say: This symptom could be related to many different possible causes. Because COVID 19 can be asymptomatic, even a mild symptom "might" be due to it.
