A member asked:

How does cancer proliferate, if the immune system destroys it from the beginning?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No destruction: In order for the immune system to destroy a foreign invader like bacteria or even cancer, it must identify a threshold level of immunogenic protein which then turns the system on. Prehn has shown that the level of immunogen in tumor is far below the needed level. We have shown that this level is approx. 500 ugm of oncofetal antigen where the whole tumor expresses 10-30 ugm.
