Unknown: Genes are for risk, not destiny. Children of alcoholics, some studies show, are at 4 times the risk of being alcoholic as those whose parent is not alcoholic. The gene expresses a vulnerability to alcoholism or addiction & may bless you w/ forewarning . Many people go their whole life not knowing a potential chronic disease may otherwise loom. Being alert about drugs/alcohol is wise & possible.
