A member asked:

Can fetal femur length be an indication of downs syndrome? babys femur length was in the 15th percentile at 33 weeks.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Soft marker,: A femur length that is shorter than expected has been used as a soft marker for certain genetic conditions, such as trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome) and trisomy 18 (Edward's syndrome). More testing of actual chromosomes would be needed to be sure.
