Why is it that diabetics are often overweight?

Obesity: Means you need more Insulin to get sugar into cells, 'stressing' beta-cells that produce insulin. If one's beta cells can't keep up with the increased Insulin demand, sugar doesn't get into cells, blood sugar rises= diabetes.

Overweight: Overweight leads to type two diabetes with insulin resistance. Loss of weight in type two diabetes can reverse the diabetes. Increased activity can also increase the sensitivity to insulin. Maintaining normal weight with activity daily, is a healthy way to avoid diabetes due to overweight
