My 1 month old baby grants and cries when he farts and passes stools. but recently he hasnt slept well waking up crying and granting hysterically. should u be concerned? how do i know if it's normal. he still feeds as he normally does.

Infant dyschezia: While constipation is a possible cause, if the child is stooling it may be experiencing infant dyschezia. Small infants are not yet able to coordinate the clenching of their abdominal muscles and relaxation of their anal sphincter to allow them to pass stool. No tests or treatment necessary as the infant outgrows this. If the infant is not feeding well, not passing stool, not growing see a doctor.
