Work with your doc: Venlaflaxine raises seratonin in the brain and the XL is a long acting form. You could switch to a different agent that acts in a similar fashion, or use short acting forms, slowly decreasing the dose. Regardless, work with your prescriber to gradually lower the dose every 2nd or 3rd day by 20-25% as you tolerate it, or 10-15% if you require that lessened reduction. Good luck.
