A member asked:

I have a boil on my penis, right between the shaft and scrotum, how do you treat it? do i have to consult my gp or can i get on the counter antibiotics to use?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can view it: With a visit to the doctor, a person can get his boil treated. Most boils are treated with drainage of the interior pus. Antibiotics are sometimes, but not always, used after that. For boils that don't look like they are thin enough to lance through the skin, antibiotics may be used to stop the infection... and then a surgeon can remove the non-infected "cyst" at a later time if necessary.
