What strength/muscle building exercises can one do with small hiatal hernia? are squats, lunges, with light weights or push ups safe? how would one know if it gets worse? i'm doing cardio but would like to do resistance training.

Keep head up: Hiatal hernia is common, associated with gastro-esophageal reflux can cause heartburn symptoms, especially when the head is lowered below the stomach. Keeping your head up will limit this problem, especially if you don’t eat until after the work out. Your exercises should not make hiatal hernia increase in size.
