A member asked:

My heart rate has these unusual spikes -sometimes my heart rate jumps to over 190 ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can evaluate: Many things in life are possible, but heart rates above the 170's usually mean something else is going on. Exercise, anxiety, or fever or minor dehydration from typical illnesses should not take a normal adult's heart rate up to the 200's range. Be sure the heart rate counter is working properly. One's primary care doctor can evaluate and may refer to cardiology for testing if needed.
