Lack of intake: All fruits and vegetables contain some amount of vitamin c. Malnutrition causes insufficient intake and therefore a deficiency.

Vitamin C: The quality of vitamin c tablets (and powder) is rather standard. The key thing to keep in mind is that vitamin c has a half-life of about 12 hours so no matter how much you take it will leave your body in that amount of time. Thus, it's best to take vitamin c twice daily, A.M. And P.M. Hope this helps.
