Safe unless...: If it's more than 5 days before you ovulate then you can't get pregnant but the issue is you can't always predict ahead of time exactly when you'll ovulate.You ovulate 12-16 days before your period starts. If your menstrual cycle is very regular you can have a good idea of when you're ovulating. Your "fertile window" is 5 days before ovulation until the day after so after ovulation is also "safe."
